Saranda Restaurants: Where We Ate Well on Our Family Trip
Looking for Saranda restaurants that work well for a family…
Looking for Saranda restaurants that work well for a family trip? Food ended up being one of the simplest pleasures of our week here, though some of our favorite meals weren’t in restaurants at all. Rather than eating out every day, we cooked at home most of the time, picked up fresh ingredients nearby, and saved eating out for a handful of favorite spots within walking distance of our apartment.

Eating at the Best Saranda Restaurants
Two places near our apartment, both about two minutes away on foot, became regular stops.
Fast Food & Grill Station Halal was our go-to for a quick, satisfying meal. The grilled chicken sandwich and the kebab were both excellent, and the grilled meats in general were a reliable choice whenever we didn’t feel like cooking.
So Sweet became our evening ritual. Their ice cream is made with organic milk from a local farm, and we ended up going back almost every night. It’s simple, but it was one of those small routines that made the trip feel relaxed rather than rushed.
Lëkurësi Castle was our choice for something more memorable. Perched above the city, the restaurant has sweeping views over the bay and the coastline, visible from pretty much every table. We’d recommend going in the late afternoon, before sunset, to enjoy both the view and a cooler temperature.

If you’re searching for Saranda Albania restaurants, you’ll find plenty of options around the city, from casual places to restaurants serving meals along the coast. For us, however, having a few reliable places close to our apartment was more useful than trying a different restaurant every night.
Cooking at Home: One Grocery Run for the Week

For breakfast and dinner, we cooked at home most days. As a family of four, it was both easier on the budget and healthier than eating out constantly. We took the car once, about 5 minutes to the center of Saranda, and stocked up on everything we needed for the whole week in a single trip.
- BioJu, an organic grocery shop in the center of Saranda, highly rated on Google and our main stop for bread, eggs, tea, and other everyday basics.
- Fresh Fish Shop Ardit, also highly rated, had excellent sea bass, very fresh and genuinely delicious.
- Fresh Meat Shop covered our halal meat needs for the week, also well reviewed.
Cooking most meals ourselves also meant we could eat well without it costing much, with eating out reserved for the occasional meal, a coffee, or ice cream.
Why Cooking at Home Worked So Well for Us
Having a kitchen in our apartment made a real difference during our stay. With four people, we didn’t have to organize every meal around restaurant opening times or crowded places. We could have a simple breakfast, prepare lunch before heading to the beach, or make dinner when we came back tired from a day of exploring.
It also gave us more flexibility to choose fresh local ingredients and keep our meals simple. For a family traveling with children, this small convenience made our week noticeably easier.
A Practical Tip: Avoid the Crowded Center
Saranda’s city center gets genuinely crowded in August, restaurants included. Where we stayed was a short distance from the center, and while there were still plenty of restaurants nearby, it was noticeably less busy. If you’re choosing where to stay, it’s worth considering this trade-off: a central location is convenient, but a slightly quieter area nearby can make eating out, and daily life in general, a lot more relaxed.
What Worked for Us
- Stay somewhere with a kitchen, even a basic one. It makes healthy eating simple and affordable, especially for a family.
- Plan one grocery run to the center for the essentials. BioJu, Fresh Fish Shop Ardit and Fresh Meat Shop were all well worth the short drive, and well reviewed on Google.
- Save eating out for a few reliable spots rather than trying something new every night. Fast Food & Grill Station Halal and So Sweet became part of our daily rhythm, not just a one-time stop.
- Consider staying slightly outside the busiest part of the center. You’ll likely still have restaurants nearby, with less crowding.
Final Thoughts
These Saranda restaurants, along with cooking at home, gave us an easy balance between convenience and local flavor.
For us, eating well in Saranda wasn’t about trying as many restaurants as possible. It was about finding a few places we enjoyed, buying fresh ingredients locally and having the freedom to cook when it suited our family.
That combination made our week simpler, more relaxed and easier to enjoy at our own pace.
